Rainwater harvesting facade for Kennedy building

Picture36.png
A rainwater harvesting system which utilizes building facade instead of roof collection was developed for reuse on-site. This system uses the circular transparent tube with a hole to collect the rainwater and to show the collecting process to the pedestrian and occupants. The developed facade was applied to the Kennedy buildings at UNCC.

1″ of rain x 1 sq. ft (facade) = 0.206 gallons (# roof: 0.623 gallons)
Average annual precipitation(Charlotte, NC) – rainfall : 41.63 inch

Rain harvesting facade area : 5511.12 ft²

(Facade area: 40 m * 8m * 4(E/W/S/N) * 0.4(WWR) = 512 m² = 5511.12 ft² )

Total rainwater harvesting potential (gallons):3,859,020.105 gallons
